College Steer-A-Year Results ...
Welcome to
the beginning of another Steer-A-Year trial. The Steer-A-Year project at
Olds College provides quality comparative breed production data to breed
associations. It also provides them the opportunity for promotion of
their breed to students and the public. In 2005-2006, 19 breed
associations are participating in the Steer-A-Year project, including
the Alberta Blonde d'Aquitaine Association. New to this year are
representatives from the Alberta
Welsh Black Association. The project involves feed
trials, project reporting, breed visibility, and student involvement.
The animals arrived for weigh-in on October 14 and 15,to
begin a two week warm-up period. The official start of the trial was
November 3rd. The average weight of the animals coming into the program
was 599 lbs. The Summary for Blondes to is featured below.
